Captain Cook Area - Big Island Hawaii

We have heard this area is the best on the west coast of the Big Island. I'm looking for small to medium sized hote/condol accommodations. Pool needed. Looking for a 4-5 night stay in March 2020.

Best for what? It's a tiny town, the resorts will be in Kona and along the coast to the north. You should check vrbo and Airbnb for vacation rentals (very few with pools).

Look at Sea Village condos, on VRBO. Nice, smallish complex with individually-owned units.

We have stayed a few times there. Small pool, free tennis, full-on oceanviews, BBQ pits. Three-story buildings, no elevators.

Sea Village is in kailua- Kona, not Captain Cook.

>>We have heard this area is the best <<

You've heard that from someone - What did they tell you and what did they like about it?

I would not be my 'best area to stay' but it depends on what you are looking for.

What is your budget?

Yes, I know where Sea Village is, having stayed there a few times. It’s not too far from Captain Cook, for a day trip. Or, I think cruises might leave from Kona to go there.
I guess I misunderstood the OP.
I would snorkel at Captain Cook, but not stay there.
