A good place to visit for Big Island questions is www.konaweb.com in the "Visiting the Big Island' forum. Also if you are there for at least a week the book "Hawaii-The Big Island Revealed" is a NECESSITY!!
A recent guidebook gives the cruise a good review but we have not done it personally.

Captain Beans? Are you kidding me? What kind of a name is that for a cruise service?! "Hey, anyone want to go for a long boat ride with Captain Beans?" No thanks, pal.

GP -

We did the Capt Bean's cruise during our first trip to Kona in 1988 - we enjoyed it. We've been back to Kona many times since, but we've not taken the cruise as it's gotten rather pricy and we figured that once was probably enough.
