Capitol Suites Hotel in Washington, DC

I posted earlier, but forgot to list the city. DH and I got a rate of $67.00 per night for Aug 4-7 through Expedia. The room is a superior suite with kitchenette and a complementary continental breakfast. Even though August is not the most expensive time to visit DC, we were still surprised at this low rate. The reviews on tripadvisor were generally good. Anyone have any personal knowledge of this property? It appears to be located fairly close to the Library of Congress and the Capitol. Thank you.

Is there something in particular you want to know? I was that area in April and remember walking past it. It is a nice location.

Did not want to know anything in particular. Do you recall the surrounding neighborhood? Was it mostly office buildings or residential? I don't have the computer feature where you can look at the neighborhood in real time.

A mixture. You are only a few blocks from the congress buildings but there are homes and restaurants around also. The map on the hotel's website is pretty good and you can switch it to satellite.

Thanks for the tip! That satellite map helps.

Great neighborhood - it's in a historical, high end, residential area, but, as mentioned, only a few blocks fron the Capitol, Lib of Cong, and the businesses along Penn. Ave.

Convenient to tourists sites and to the Capitol South Metro (1 block). Amazing price - rooms usually go for $250+ at that hotel. Some nice casual dining spots around the corner on Penn. Ave. (Good Stuff Eatery, We the Pizza, etc.)

I imagine you got that price since Congress will be out of session and so the hotels near the Capitol have a lot fewer customers. It's a great location and a nice hotel.

I think August hotel rates are often the lowest of the year, but that's still a rate about $100 below their usual summer rate, so a very good deal. There's just no business traffic in August, and that counts for a lot of hotel rooms. It's not a deluxe hotel or anything, but it is a good location. I used to live near there.

You're sure you got that for $69 a night and not $169 a night (which is what Expedia shows it to me for those dates)? if so, that's great, as you'd usually have to go outside the city for something that cheap, even in August.

I rechecked my confirmation and the rate is $66.76 per night for a superior room with two queen beds.
