CapeCod in June
 

We're going to Cape Cod area during the 2nd week of June. For that time of year, what is the typical weather on the outer cape, and have the crowds arrived by then? We're looking at the Crow's Nest Resort as a place to stay; does anyone have experience staying there.

It will probably be low to mid 70s during the day, 50s-60s at night. or it could be very hot or very cold too. June weather can go either way. That is the beginning of tourist season so there will be crowds. What town are you looking in?

Weather can be anywhere from 60-80...bring layers. There won;t be alot of crowds yet, most of the local schools don't get out until the end of June...weekends will be a little more crowded but not like when July rolls around.

Sorry have no info about the resort.

Is that the Crow's Nest in North Truro? I haven't stayed there, but used to camp nearby. The big crowds are not in Truro because there isn't much there. For fun you can go into Provincetown, which will be busy. The real crowds will be driving on Route 6, especially on the weekends.

I have gotten used to the water in Va Beach so can't go in the Cape water anymore, especially in June!

I haven't stayed at the Crow's Nest but have 2 different sets of friends who have. We visited them while they were there so here is my opinion from that visit.
Great location on the beach of Cape Cod Bay. At high tide there is not much beach area but there is a deck that runs across the entire place in front of each unit. That should work out well for you because kids are still in school during the early weeks of June. During the summer, I can imagine that there would be kids running all over the deck, limiting privacy and peace and quiet. At low tide the water goes way out giving you lots of sandy-bottomed shallows but no place to swim.

Each unit is owed by different individuals so they may vary. The place is not really a resort...more like a really nice motel with efficiency apartments. The unit we saw was newly renovated, had 2 bedrooms, small kitchen, gas fireplace and small sitting area. Very nice. The off-season price was more than fair (2006).

One word of caution. They advertise washer and dryers as part of the unit and they do provide them. BUT, they are designed to use minimal water so it takes about 6 hour to wash a few things (no kidding). The w/d units are inexpensively made and the management charges an outlandish amount for any plastic pieces that might break off. My friend's daughter broke the handle of the dryer and was given a $250 bill. The handle was a $39 item. Make sure you understand all of the charges up-front.

As others have mentioned, you should not be bothered by crowds early in June and everything should be open. If you decide to explore the outer cape stop by Fort Hill in Eastham for a lovely view of Nauset Marsh, Atlantic Ocean and Coast Guard Beach. The area is in the National Seashore and maintained preserve the feeling typical of Cape cod from 1850-1940. If you like history take a tour of the Captain Penniman House, one of three historic buildings in the area (the other two are privately owned...one is a bed and breakfast). Visit the Salt Pond Visitor's Center in Eastham as well as the Provincelands Visitor's Center in Provincetown.

The Crow's Nest is down the street from my cottage and I know the owner.
He rents a few units and the others are as said, individually owned and furnished. The units that I've seen look nice with good views.
If laundry's an issue check first to see which type of wash/dryer is in the unit.
The Crow's Nest is in a great location with trolleys running outside your door to P-Town or south to other towns down to Harwich. The hotel is on a decent private bay beach and national beaches are a bike or trolley ride away. There's a few restaurants within walking distance as well.
As for crowds, June will start to see crowds but not nearly as much as July and August or if there are special weekends such as family or womens week, etc.

A recurring question whose general answer is re: weather either gorgeous crystalline blue skies with comfortably warm temps or upper 50s w/driving rain that seems to be coming sideways! I am not sure if there is a "typical" weather for June....The Cape is always iffy and iffier the earlier in the season that you go. However, when good, the weather is spectacular in June!
