Cape May, NJ

Any suggestions on a nice B & B in Cape May, NJ besides the Mainstay Inn?

Hi-

We have stayed at Leith Hall and have always enjoyed it. It's right across the street from the beach and close to the main square. Delicious breakfast and a great porch with sea breezes.

Also, the old hotel, Congress Hall, has been recently renovated and is supposed to be fantastic.

we stayed at the Queen Victoria in one of their private cottages and liked it. The main Inn looked pretty too.

We've stayed a few times at the Linda Lee B&B in Cape May and will do so again. Beautiful old house, great neighborhood, wonderful front porch, and very good food!

We just returned after a stay at the Carroll Inn, which is connected to the famous Mad Batter restaurant. The rooms are very comfortable and pleasant Victorian, although not deluxe, and a full Mad Batter breakfast is included in the very reasonable rates. There is also a bar that serves snacks and has live music on the weekends. No, it is not noisy! The location is ideal, one block from the beach and about three blocks from the "mall" of charming shops and restaurants.

We also took a look at the redone Congress Hall, which is an upscale and expensive hotel. It is beautiful, with a huge back veranda with many chairs looking toward the ocean. A different experience than a B&B.

The most terrific restaurant is Tisha's - right on the beach with lovely unobstructed views of the water either inside or outside. The food is outstanding. Entrees run from about $22 to $29, so it is not inexpensive; however, a salad is included so an appetizer is not a necessary extra. You will want to splurge on dessert - they all appear amazing - and the three I tasted fulfilled their promise. It's also BYO.

Here's another recommendation for the Carroll Inn with Mad Batter breakfasts. We loved the location and really enjoyed the breakfasts on the porch.
