SLO to Hearst Castle on weekdays?

Hello,

I'm looking into visiting Hearst Castle via public transportation from SLO; however, I will be there likely on a weekday, and it seems that the 15/12 route works only on weekends. Thoughts about what to do?

AFAIK the #15 runs every day - its just the short leg to the visitors center that is weekends only. It is only about a mile from San Simeon to the visitors center -- walkable though it IS up hill.

I'm seeing the closest stop being Cabrillo @ Otter Way, about 4 miles one-way, on weekdays. Am I missing something?

Are you using this website:

http://www.slorta.org/

I picked a weekday and put a starting point of SLO and ending at Hearst Castle Visitor's Center. It shows the #12 bus to Morro Bay, changing to #15 to the castle. Travel time 1 hour 20 minutes.

That's so odd - I just e-mailed the transit authority and they said the closest on a weekday is Castillo at Otter Way, about 4 miles away.

And Google Maps confirms it - looks like the 15 to the castle is only on weekends. I guess I could uber the rest of the way?

I just tried the website again and it now shows only Saturday to the castle. Can you not rent a car just for the day? It will give you a chance to do some exploring in the area.

Well, that's too bad. Have you been here before? Driving is not difficult at all. We have very little traffic.
