Cape Code Accomodations

Can anyone recommend an attractive place with character, walking distance to the beach either mid-cape or out near Chatham for two families of four, for three nights next July 1st? In or near a cute village?

We'd love to rent a house so we have casual communal area to relax and to have backyard lobster dinners, but will settle for an Inn or B & B with a common area or relaxation deck so the two families can visit. If a B & B, we'd need a place that has family sized rooms. Thanks so much.

It's good that you're thinking about this now for next July.

Be advised, however, that the first two weeks of July are THE most popular on Cape Cod. Most home rentals are booked at least a year in advance, with minimum stay requirements of a week or a month. Those "walking distance of the beach" are quite pricey. Note also that many B&B's have restrictions regarding children and number of people in one room.

Now is the time to search the web.

A wonderful place for families, right on the beach, is the Lighthouse Inn in West Dennis.

go to vrbo.com or cyberrentals.com and search for rentals also look at local real estate offices that rent homes, you may be more comfortable using a middleman to rent the two websites i mention are direct rentals from owners. your experience can be good or bad but mine have mostly been very positive.

If you are only looking to rent for three nights around July 1st, you are going to be hard pressed to find someone who will rent you their house. Those of us who rent our places (I too list on www.weneedavacation.com) only offer them for week-long options at that time of year. Sorry.

You might want to try Ocean Edge Resort. They offer one bedroom, golf course condos that we found perfectly sufficient and nice for a long weekend. Will probably be somewhat pricey at that time of year.

Or try Sea Pines Inn in Brewster. I think they have two family cottages and in a convenient location.
