Cape Codder Resort & Spa/Hyannis, MA - anyone been?
We are looking for a very reasonable place to stay over Labor Day weekend. Cape Cod is horribly expensive and we found this resort online. TripAdvisor has generally favorable comments, but I don't always trust their reviews (had bad experience with owner posting great rating, then disappointment.
Any Fodorites have comments, positive or negative? Stuck with Labor Day weekend, due to DD's college schedule. Could be anywhere on Cape, or in MA, NH or ME. need $200/night or less for 3 people with pool. Proximity to ocean and sightseeing is also necessary. Thanks!

My husband and I stayed there 1 night 2 years ago for a wedding.
It was fine - comfortable & convenient but not luxurious or particularly memorable.
It seemed a little past its prime -- not that it was dirty or run-down -- just like it was from another era. It is the definition of a family resort - with decent sized rooms good for sharing, entrances all around like a motel, plenty of parking, a couple motelish restaurants, and a huge pool. Their pool was actually pretty cool - like an indoor waterpark.
We had drinks at the bar one night and I remember it being pretty nice. But really all in all it is a perfectly fine, unremarkable motel with floral carpets in the lobby. It was a pretty lame place to stay for my husband and I (not romantic or charming at all) -- but it would a good place for a family vacation -- especially if you're looking for reasonable prices.

It's big advantage is that it is almost across the road from Cooke's Seafood, my favorite place in Hyannis to eat delicious fish, broiled, baked, or fried! The french fries are not great, but the fish is as good as you can get, and it has never, ever been greasy.

Hi aliska,
I did NOT like the CapeCodder Resort. I thought it was plenty overpriced and very much outdated. If you have 3 big kids, I dont think they will enjoy the pool much. It is small and overrun with little ones. Labor Day will be nuts on the Cape, personally I would look elsewhere.

I had friends stay at the Cape Codder and really liked it for the convenience to all locations, the food, and the pool. I ate there recently at the Hearth and Kettle for breakfast and it was full of happy families.
Be sure to head to Sandy Neck Beach and check out the tidal pools. For specific information on that beach and other things to do go to www.UndergroundCapeCod.com
