Cape Cod rental suggestions?
 

Looking into going to Cape Cod this summer, but having a hard time finding a rental. I found a great one at a place called Linger Longer by the Beach, but they're already booked for the whole summer!

We need a full kitchen because of the kids and prefer to be *on* the beach. A pool is an added plus. Has to be upscale -- no cheesy side-of-the-road motels.

Any ideas? I don't even know which towns are more likely to have oceanfront or oceanview properties.

If you want really upscale look at the Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham. www.chathambarsinn.com . Also www.oceanedge.com in Brewster.

Have you gone the vrbo.com route? It's kind of late to be looking at Summer rentals which is why many of the best will be long booked.

Ocean Edge Resort has rooms, suites and villas - have never stayed there but have driven by/through and it looks nice. oceanedge.com seems to be webstie - it is in Brewster, which is is a nice town. Rates are not cheap according to their website.

Most cottage rentals do not have pools, for cost and insurance purposes.

What websites/realtors have you tried? I always recommend weneedavacation.com as it is the site I use to rent our Brewster home (which was completely booked for seven weeks by mid-January).

Finding a hotel/condo "on" the beach at the Cape may not be impossible but it will be pricey. Ocean Edge is beautiful--but their villas on the bayside of the resort are much more expensive than the condos on the south side of 6A.

You may want to try The Cove in Orleans. It's not on the ocean beach but it is on Town Cove which is a lovely spot. Think they have kitchenettes.

I would recommend the towns of Brewster, Orleans, Chatham, Eastham, Wellfleet but that's just my preference. Orleans and Chatham have more services, especially if you get any rainy days.

Also. there is a hotel on the beach that I think also rents indivdual cottages, It's called the Red Jacket in South Yarmouth. Have stayed there many times. It has a pool, beach and two tennis courts. Thay also own other properties on the Cape.

I have to agree with Trishready,Red Jacket Resort is your best bet at this late date.

All of their cottages have full kitchens and can accomodate from 4 to 10. Some have Ocean view but all have just short walks to private beach; indoor outdoor pools, Spa, Exercise room, sailboat rentals, pub, and restaurant.

The Big 3 Ocean Edge, CBI, and Wequassett Inn, also have similar cottages for rent but I think they would be booked for this year, but you could try.

There are many individual owners who rent their townhouse,cottage, etc. thru rental agencies in Brewster, where they are located. I might suggest a call to a couple of these (don't want to give names, lest someone may feel like it is advertising!)
I am familiar where Linger Longer is located (on Linnel landing, off of Rt. 6A on the bayside, but do not know of anyone who has stayed there. It is not far from my office, if you would like me to check it out and get back to you, I shall.

in addition to Vacation rentals by owner www.vrbo.com and the other site mentioned, calling local real estate rental agents is often a good idea.
