Cape Cod Rental/Chatham good area?

For my parent's 50th anniversary in 2000, we'd like to rent a place on the water to accommodate 10. Would Chatham be a good place to look into? We'd like to find a centralized location where we can enjoy the town and beach and also do day trips (such as take the ferry to Nantucket, etc.).
Any suggestions much appreciated! Thanks!

Chatham is a lovely choice. Orleans is excellent too! :) Very quaint.
Yarmouth would put you closer to Hyannis, which is Cape Cod's center. Everywhere is nice on Cape Cod. Youe even what to consider Onset or Falmouth. Get a map and think of places you want to go to. Keep in mind that Rte 28 is Bumper to bumper in the summer.

I like the Chatham/Orleans post given what you seek. Welfleet is very nice also, but less centrally located (unless you favor more seclusion).

Diane,

Chatham and Brewster are lovely, but tend to be quieter and more expensive than Yarmouth, Harwich, and Dennis. I find the latter towns are the places I gravitate to most often - to shop, dine, beach and especially to stay (rental prices are much better). The former are pretty to drive through!

Wellfleet and Orleans are nice, too, but more remote. Hyannis and Falmouth are probably the most popular options for town/beach.
