Cape Cod, MA or Ogunquit, ME Lodging - early Sept.

Looking for lodging that offers kitchen(ette.) We're accustomed to places where we can have b'fast, lunch and snacks 'at home'. Most options are for full week, but we can only spend 3 days, and with only 2 of us, we don't need a house.

Our timeframe is just after Labor Day - until 3rd week in Sept..

On the Cape, would prefer to stay mid-Cape (Orleans to North Truro); not that familiar with Ogunquit.

Any ideas would be welcome and appreciated -thanks in advance!

There are cottage options at The Dunes in Ogunquit. We stayed in what was essentially a motel unit but part of a cottage. Lovely grounds, great location. Far enough back from the road that you can't see or hear Rt 1 traffic.

Last Sept we stayed at Seaside cottages in S Yarmouth. Size of units varied. 4 of us stayed Fri and Sat night. Each cottage is different so check photos. This slept 4 but queen was in the LR, two twin beds in single bedroom. Still plenty of LR and dining space. Plus that the little cottage colony is on the beach. You cannot drive up to the cottage. You park across the road at the office. There are carts available for you to use for luggage and groceries. Kitchenettes are well supplied.

I know what you mean about "at home".

Crows Nest in North Truro has nice suites on the beach.

Top Mast is simpler and cheaper, still right on the bay, more motel like. top Mast has a pool and small fitness center which can be used on a day basis if you stay elsewhere.

Both rent daily after labor Day, I believe.

There are many little cottage communities along the Bay in this part of the outer cape.

I would check out the average low and high temps for each place in making your choice. I know that the Cape tends to have lovely weather in Sept, but I am not sure if Ogunquit being farther north might be cooler and have less "beachy" weather.....

Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast in Eastham has an ocean view luxury cottage with kitchenette. In the National Seashore's Fort Hill Area, with a quiet location that is close to Orleans and Wellfleet, it makes a good base for exploring the Cape. The cottage rents nightly in the fall, but there may be minimum stays for weekends...and it comes with breakfast. http://www.forthillbedandbreakfast.com
