Cape Cod - July

Planning a trip to the Cape in July. What is the best place to stay .. relatively quiet but easy access to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket? Hyannis or Falmouth?

My choice would be Falmouth, One of the reasons is that the Island Queen is the easiest. least expensive way to travel to Marthas Vineyard. Unfortunately for Nantucket you would have to go to Hyannis. Falmouth has more dining options that we like and is less hectic than Hyannis.

If you want to be convenient to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, why not just stay on the island in question??

Just got back from a trip to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. We stayed in Falmouth (Cape Cod) at the Inn on the Square (stayed there three nights). It is within easy walking distance from the free bus shuttle service to Woods Hole where we took the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard. During this time of the year, the ferry went to Vinyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard. There is a nifty shuttle bus that we took from the Steamship wharf to Edgartown (Bus #13 is the scenic route along ther beach and travels through Oak Bluff. Bus #1 also leaves from the wharf to Edgartown). I think we paid $6.00 for TWO people for the shuttle to Edgartown. We stayed at the Colonial Inn which we liked very much BUT they are turning part of the hotel into residences so make sure they put you in a room away from the construction noise if you stay here. After three days in MV, we flew to Nantucket (there was also a shuttle bus directly to the airport for $2.00 a person). The Cape Air flight only cost us $40.00 a person and took 15 minutes to get to Nantucket. We took a cab to Nantucket Town ($11.00) and stayed at the Sherburne Inn for three days. This inn was fantastic! Nantucket was our favorite place on this trip (we enjoyed it more that than the Cape and MV). It is a beautiful town. Yesterday, we flew directly from Nantucket to Boston (45 minute flight) which costs around $103.00 per person on Cape Air (worth it if you ask me). Wonderful trip.
