Cape Cod: Is there anything similar to Winnetu here?
I am looking for accomodations similar to Winnetu on Cape Cod- preferably on the bay side- we will have 5 kids ages 3 and under so I would prefer the calmer and warmer waters...I am hoping to find something like Winnetu where we can get a house/cottage (5 bedrooms) where they take care of light cleaning etc (like a hotel) while we are there for a week next august...any advice?
Otherwise please advise of good sites for rental homes? Im finding it hard to find a site that I can search for homes on the dayside of cape cod..I dont know enough about the area to be more specific than that..thanks again! |
Perhaps Ocean Edge in Brewster would work.

Chatham Bars Inn???? Only if you want to spend BIG $$$$. Try VRBO.com or a search for Vacation Rentals on Cape Cod. On the 2nd look for a rental agent you can call to discuss your particulars and cut down your search time. Make sure you use an agent who has been in business for years and can give references if possible. I think it would be unusual to have daily cleaning service with a rental house, but I am sure it can be purchased separately. The warmest water temperatures are usually found on the Nantucket (south) side of the Cape, the bayside follows. I have no idea what Winnetu is so can't comment on that.

Search for West Barnstable, Brewster, Eastham, Orleans, Wellfleet, Truro, etc. Check a map and see what towns are on the bayside. Ocean Edge may be a good option as mention above. Weekly rental houses won't come with resort amenities, if that's really important to you.
Someone may know of some resorts on the South side of the Cape. I'm not that familiar with lodgings there. www.ineedavacation.com has Cape Cod rentals. You can also google realtors on Cape Cod in the towns you're looking at--most have a section on rentals. |
Commonwealth Associates-Cape Cod or just google real estate firms cape cod

What is Winnetu?? (What state is it in even?) Not knowing what you're trying to compare to makes it difficult to provide suggestions...
The Bay side is indeed calmer, but it's much less popular for some good reasons, not least of which is an abundance of horseflies during the summer months. The nice thing about the lower Cape along the Sound is that it's beautifully protected by the islands, so you get "calm" without "dead calm". |
Winnetu is an all inclusive resort on Martha's Vineyard. Very highly regarded. Great family resort.
See: http://www.winnetu.com/index.jsp |
Pardon moi! I'm not sure if I meant exclusive or inclusive or both! Winnetu is a high end resort (there's the exclusive) and it does offer family packages that include childrens' activities, sight seeing packages, meals, fitness, etc (there's the inclusive).

For rental homes on the Cape, see http://www.weneedavacation.com/. This website covers the Cape and Islands. The search tools on the site should be helpful in identifying properties by location.
I've not stayed at any resorts on the Cape recently and do not have any recommendation other than what you might find on your own by searching for "cape cod family resort". Have you tried the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce website for ideas? See http://www.capecodchamber.org/ |

Thanks portiaperu, now I understand what the OP is looking for. I don't know of anything specific, but again would really emphasize staying on the Sound side not Bayside.
Chatham Bars Inn is a beautiful hotel but probably not as inclusive as how Winnetu is described. And importantly, it's on the Atlantic where the surf can be quite rough! From Chatham and above (Eastham, Orleans, Wellfleet, Truro, Provincetown), the beaches on the Atlantic side have the potential to be far from calm... |
