The Bradford is a great little property. You'll enjoy it there. You can walk to all the little shops and restaurants from there. The Wayside has a good restaurant and is walking distance from the Bradford. Have a meal at the Impudent Oyster and a fish and chips lunch at the Squire. Make sure you at least make a drive by visit to Chatham Bars Inn. You might enjoy tea or a glass of wine on the grand hotel's front porch overlooking the water. Shore Road provides one of the most scenic drives in the area. In fact, you can drive from Shore Road to continue on route 28 to drive past Pleasant Bay and on to Nauset Beach, Orleans, and to the route 6 connection in Eastham.

We've had consistently outstanding meals at The Mews. Enjoy your visit!

btw, re. Chatham Fish Pier: You can take a whale watch out of Chatham from the Chatham Fish Pier if you decide you just want to stay in town. Look for the information on signage at the Fish Pier if you're interested in that. If you time your visit right you'll be able to see the fishermen come in with their catch. It's more exciting than it sounds. The seals hang around looking for treats being thrown from the boats. Late afternoon, between 2-4 is when they're usually in but of course it depends upon the tides and how good the fishing is going. There's a fish market right there that also sells take out lunches and dinners. The fried fish sandwich there is outstanding. Kreme and Kone on route 28 in W. Chatham sells a pretty delicious fish platter too.

Kennedy Compound: You can see the outside corner of one of the Kennedy homes from the street; you cannot tour the property nor the grounds. Not yet, anyway. It's actually best viewed from the water if you're really interested.

Thank you all for your advice which helped us have a fabulous five days on Cape Cod! This is a mini trip report while I'm home nursing a bad cold.
We decided to stay in Eastham at the Sheraton for its mid way point which was fine for what we needed (basically a place to sleep), scoured many beaches & towns (happened upon Wellfleet's first Blossom Festival). We ate at several of the places you all suggested and had yummy ice cream. We loved Ptown - spent many hours there. And loved Chatham, which has one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. It was nice to see where the Bradford & Wayside Inns are located (for another trip) as it's hard to tell even on Google Earth if you've never been before. We want to go back, stay in Chatham, spend more time just relaxing on the beach plus exploring the areas we missed in the lower part of the Cape. Thanks again, folks!

Sounds like a great trip! Thanks for providing an update. Glad you enjoyed Ptown. It's one of my favorite places in the world. The cape is such a treasure. You make me want to go back! :-)

Good to hear back that you had a nice trip. We really like the Cape off season, DH hates traffic.

You really hit the jackpot, weatherwise, martha! I can almost never remember such beautiful weather in MA in April in the last 40 years, with one or two exceptions! We rarely have such amazing weather even in June.

Fabulous! The summer months are approaching and I'm looking forward to relaxing on my favorite Cape beach! Glad you enjoyed your visit.
