Cape Cod -ideas eats ,activity, ferry to BOS
Hi. My husband and I are headed to Cape Cod for our first time for our wedding anniversary. It will be a quick get away from Ohio. We are flying in Fri 7 am into Boston then taking the 8 am ferry to Prov. where we'll pic u p the rental car., staying in the Trulo area. We love great breakfasts, seafood, wine, outdoor activities and sunny beaches. Then back to Bostonian a early afternoon ferry on Monday. Have 3 questions:
1. Any suggestions on breakfast and dinner? Would like a yummy breakfast, eat lite for lunch picnic style then a fantastic (not necessarily expensive) dinner , maybe entertainment if lucky. We like seafood, & most food clean healthy and fresh!
2. Any activities we should try to hit. Thinking bike rentals for sure. Not so sure if a trip to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket would be worth it given the short time there.
3. Any ideas on what to do with our carryon while we explore Boston for 4 hours before making our way to the airport. We will be arrive mid day via ferry. Are there lockers near the ferry station or woudl it make sense to drop them at the airport and then head back to the city quick exploring?
Thanks of much. Looking forward to this get away!

You don't have time for a trip to the Vineyard or Nantucket IMO.
Rent bikes and explore the gorgeous national seahorse beaches in Truro, gallery hop in PTown( hit a show in the evening).
In Truro we like Blackfish and in Wellfleet Mac's Shack.

There are no options for luggage that I know of other than checking them early at airport - which would be a pain. Find out from airline how early you can check bags.
Skip the Islands - too much effort, too little time for too little reward.
I am a little concerned about arrival at 7 AM and catching an 8 PM ferry to Provincetown. You have to get from airport to Harbor. Do you have a back-up plan?

I agree with everybody about not going to an island, and I live on Nantucket, which is wonderful.
I agree with Gail, but more strongly.
I don't think you can make the 8AM ferry from Long Wharf.
It is rush hour, so taxi or Uber will not be fast, even if they take the old tunnel rather than the Ted Williams.
The T has a stop right at Long Wharf, within view of the PTown ferry, but you have to get to the T on the shuttle at Logan, you have to buy tickets, and you have to have no delays.
This is on top of your plane being on time, getting a gate without a wait, and that gate being close enough to the street for you to get to transportation in less than 7 minutes.
Take a later ferry.
The GOOD NEWS is that you can check bags with the bellmen at the Marriott Long Wharf hotel while you sightsee. You can do it in the morning when you arrive, and you can do it in the PM when you return. You are within an easy walk of Old North Church and Paul Revere's house in the North End and the Old State House, King's Chapel, and the Old Granary Burying Ground in the other direction.

There are lockers at South Station (from which you can get the Silver Line to the airport) and the convenient ferry across the harbor to the airport also stores luggage (at the city side terminal).

thanks!! so is the Silver in the quickest option to commute from the airport to the ferry station? Is that a subway or rail?
we plan to carry on our bag. I think we have 1.5 hrs between landing and the ferry. Tickets already purchased. Yes, it will be tight, but we can try right??? Backup plan would be the later ferry I guess...
How much time should be plan for the commute? Airport to ferry On Friday am, ferry to airport on Monday afternoon?

If you don't take a taxi from the airport, there is an airport shuttle bus that brings you to the Airport Blue Line station of the subway. Take the Blue Line inbound and get off at Aquarium Station. You can map the route on www.mbta.com. This is faster than taking the Silver Line (which is a bus) to South Station and then either walking on transferring. You could take a taxi from South Station but there will be traffic.
I think you can make it in an hour +. I wouldn't rule out taking a taxi. I think that might be the fastest option, even with traffic.
On your return, you could book a water taxi at Rowe's Wharf and store your luggage for free (as mentioned by SambaChula above). If the Marriott works that would be great, but you have a fall back.
I second the recommendation for Blackfish in Truro (make reservations now) and Mac's Shack in Wellfleet (go early or late to avoid waiting). There is also Mac's on the Pier in Wellfleet where you get your food at a window and eat at picnic tables in the sand.
Visit the Truro Vineyards for tours, tastings, lunch, or just a drink. They have a lovely outdoor space at tables on the shady lawn.
You can rent bikes in Provincetown or in Wellfleet near the rail trail.
Savory and Sweet in mid-Truro is a good casual place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and also has ice cream. The Box Lunch is an Outer Cape series of sandwich places that special in portable, picnic-type, rolled sandwiches.

Silver Line is a bus that operates as part of the subway system the MBTA. Stay within train area if you are switching from a train or you'll have to pay again.
We check bags with desk at Boston Harbor Hotel and take a water taxi across harbor to airport bus.
