Cape Cod accommodation in September.
Hello all,
What would be your recommendation for hotel/B&B for couple without children second week in September – the Lower, Mid or Outer Cape? We are looking for reasonably priced close to the beach so we can swim, hike and not too far from the attractions (although we’ll have a car so we can drive). Thanks for your advice. |
Red Jacket Beach Resort in South Yarmouth is Oceanfront, with indoor and outdoor pools, Pub, Restaurant Spa and gym.
They are Mid-Cape so you can travel easily to Upper and Lower Cape attractions. |
We stayed at "A Little Inn on Pleasant Bay." http://www.alittleinnonpleasantbay.com/
Absolutely idylic. Location, breakfast, hosts, accommodations. |
If you are looking in Wellfleet, I would suggest Aunt Sukie's B&B, or the Stone Lion Inn. Within walking distance to both bay, and the village. Easy distance to Greast Island for hiking, the pier for fishing or renting a sailboat, or a charter fishing boat, and close to golf and tennis. Terrific restaurants in town, many art galleries to tour, easy access to the National Seashore and Provincetown, not to mention those Wellfleet oysters!
The Cape's towns are varied, each with it's own charm and amenities. You need to choose, then check out each towns offerings on their chamber web sites. |
You might want to look at The Commodore in W. Harwich.

Take a look at Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast located in the National Seashore's Fort Hill Area in Eastham (outer cape) Although not on a beach, the setting is quintessential Cape Cod...rolling farm fields with a couple of homes (one is the B+B) and a whaling captain's house set back from Nauset Marsh with fabulous, panoramic views of Coast Guard Beach and the Atlantic. The place is quiet, scenic, undeveloped and surrounded by walking trails. Eastham is 5 minutes from Orleans (dining, shopping etc), 20 minutes from Chatham and Wellfleet and 30 minutes from Provincetown. Coast Guard Beach, Nauset Lighthouse beach, First Encounter beach are all just a short 5 minute drive.

I agree wit yellowbyrd. A good location for first vacationers with your interests. But, FYI, the waters will cool fast in the next few weeks.
