Canyons resorts
We're going for four nights with a group of nine (children 6-17) to ski/snowboard. In the past, we have been to Aspen (great) and the Berkshires ( okay). We've heard there is a great resort in the Canyons which is not ski in/ out but is literally steps from the lifts. Anyone know what I am talking about? Or any other suggestions for a great condo for that size group? Thanks!

Misha,
Are you talking about The Canyons in Park City, UT?
It's not my favorite place, but lots of people like it. It is currently being bought by a real estate development company that has nothing to do with running a ski area other than real estate!
It has a small, developer make "village" at the base and lots of lodging options, most high rise. It's about 5 miles from Historical Main St. and does have free shuttle service.
Does this help?

We've liked alomst every Western ski area we've been to. I'd suggest figuring out where you can fly non-stop cheaply, and then find a large house or condo on vrbo.
If you can get to SLC easily, I'd recommend staying in Park City, where the action is, rather than the Canyons. If you can get to Denver, I like Breckenridge, Winter Park, or Vail.

A friend of mine has a condo at the Canyons and they love it. I like to ski there because it has tons of terrain. I think their lesson program (for kids) is as good as any other. It is "out of the action" vs. Park City proper. That can be a plus or a minus. It would be interesting to check condo deals to see where you can get the best deal--Canyons vs. Park City.

We have stayed at the Canyons a few times because my husband and I ski and our son boards. We have stayed in the condos and the hotel. We prefer the hotel because of pool access and other amenities plus maid service.
BUT...what totally sold us on Park City (other than we love the town and great restaurants- see Zagat) is when my husband decided he was 20 again, jumped off a jump in the terrain park and landed on his head- no helmet. He was unconscious for a few minutes. Ski patrol had him in a sled within minutes. University of Utah Hospital is only 30 minutes away and he had wonderful care. He was totally find with a minor concussion. Could have been way worse. This is a long winded way to say that the location of Canyons, Park City and all their ski resorts are within 30 minutes of the airport and hospital.

Wow, 309! Sorry you had to find that out the hard way. Just to note: The new Park City hospital is under construction and should be up and running in a year or so....It's by the Olympic sized ice rink at Quinn's Junction, intersection of UT 40 and Hwy 228 which heads east out of Park City.
