canyonlands & moab
I am arriving in Moab on Sun Aug 31 late p.m. Plan to visit Arches on mon Sept 1.
Tue Sept 2 I will check out and end up in Blanding so as to be better poised to leave on Wed for Torrey. I would like to visit a site in Canyonlands on Tues, Sept 2 either before leaving Moab or en route to Blanding. I understand that the drive time to each site in Canyonlands is significant. Any suggestions? As far as hiking goes, I can hike up to 5 miles a day, but would prefer either a shorter distance or two separate hikes totaling 5 miles within a day. Thanks for any responses |
It is a shame you have so little time in the area. I always recommend that people go whitewater rafting out of Moab. An assortment of raft trips is available. Unforgettable!

Gemini Bridges is fairly close though you might want to rent a bicycle or four wheel drive vehicle to get to the best trails. The scenery is spectacular.

From Blanding to Torrey is 175 miles.
From Moab to Torrey is 160 miles. You would be better off spending another night in Moab to tour both the Needles and Island in the Sky districts. You can do either one first. I like the Grand View & Mesa Arch hikes in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands. Doing both districts of Canyonlands and returning to Moab is about 220 miles. My route total miles is 367 and your way would be 379 In Arches you will want to do the Delicate Arch hike. Utahtea |
Dead Horse Point State Park gives a wonderful view of the Canyonlands. I can't think of any viewpoint as spectacular.

Take the advice offered above. It is better than just about any other you will get. I have been to those areas multiple times and can add nothing, so I wont.
