Canyon vacation
Hello this is my first post
I'm planning a vacation for me, my daugher and my husband. It would be for 2 weeks in 2008. We really would like to visit Sedona, Grand Canyon and as many other national parks as possible. What would be a suggested itinerary. We will be flying from NY and will rent a car. I looked thru some travel books and could not find the itinerary that I liked. Thank you in advanced for responses. You will find many suggestions and ideas here. You might want to start by typing in phrases such as "canyon itinerary" into the search box on the upper right. To search, you can type in any key words like place names, motel names, etc., and start reading from the list of threads that come up. Pretty soon you'll begin to see a plan formulating in your mind for your own trip. From there, ask questions and many here can offer great advice. Good luck with the planning! :)

Tall order! Fly into Vegas (cheap flights, cheap rentals), drive to Arizona (Sedona, Grand Canyon, etc.), if time allows, New Mexico (Santa Fe, ruins, etc.) then head up to Utah (lots of NParks), then back to Nevada. Or fly into Phoenix, and start there. Get a National Parks Pass, and they will give you amazing amounts of info, or join AAA, and they will construct a triptik for you.

This is what we did a few years ago, and it worked out great:
Flew into Phoenix, rented a car at the airport, and drove up to Sedona for 2 nights. From there, we drove to the Canyon for 2 nights. Then on to Lake Powell for a night. From there we drove to Bryce for a night, then Zion for 2 nights, then Vegas for 2 nights. We flew back from Vegas. |
My husband & I did a 10 day trip years ago as follows (this was early May, north rim lodge @ GC just open): fly into Vegas, 1 night in Vegas, drive to Bryce (1 night), Zion (2 nights), North Rim of Grand Canyon (2 nights), South Rim of Grand Canyon (2 nights), Sedona (1 day) and flew out of Phoenix (1 night). If you look at a map it's sort of like a question mark (the drive that is).
