Canoeing Kyacking for a family

Hi there were over in New Mexico/Texas for 6 weeks in the summer and we would love to try a canoeing/kyacking day trip......can anyone recommend any operators of these trips .......i think all we want is calm water as all we want to do is paddle down a river of lake

Cheers

adehug, do you know how big New Mexico/Texas is? If someone suggested a trip in northwestern NM and another in southeastern Texas, it would take you two days to get from one to the other. Where specifically will you be? In what towns in NM or TX?

Sorry dont really have an itinery as we have six weeks to travel around the two states so any information anywhere would help

thanks

adehug, you stated on another post that you'll be on the southern I-10 side, is that right? It is a 7-8 hour trip from southern NM to northern NM. And lord knows how long from south to north TX. Do you want to stick with the southern tier? Or just find the best canoe or kayak (note the spelling) trips? I hear there's some great water action in Austin, TX.

Check out this article and then check out the company's website for tour info.

Sounds great - I want to do it the next time I'm in the Hill Country of Texas

sorry about the spelling its not my strong point....basically were going to do a circle travelling from la basically following I10 as far as Houston then back up through Dallas and then basically following the
I40 back to la. Its another one of our crazy road trips having done the east and west coasts in the last two years....anything else that may be of interest please include it as were willing to try/see anything

Be sure to see Fredricksburg Texas. Check out this link for great things to do in the area.

Your kids will love tubing down the Guadalupe River.

The Hill Country is wonderful. When I lived in Dallas I went down to this area every weekend I could. Tubing, swimming in state park creeks (one with an old fashioned tire swing over the river), caving, seeing the bats, LBJ park, etc.....so much to see and do in the prettiest part of Texas.

I haven't read your other threads, but make sure to go to Santa Fe. Do a search on this board for lots of suggestions.
