Cannon Beach: where are the shops, eateries, etc.?
Is it pretty much the N. Hemlock St. area (before it turns into S. Hemlock)?
|
Many of the shops and some restaurants are concentrated in the 3-4 blocks-long central downtown area. But, there are other shops and restaurants scattered along the entire length of Hemlock. Where does it change from N to S, and are you wondering about any shop or restaurant in particular?
|
bb, according to google maps, N. Hemlock turns into S. Hemlock at 1st. street. And it does look like there are a lot of shops on both sides of the street in that area (from 1st. Street to 3rd. Street).
But as you head on down south along Hemlock, it seems to be less and less. (I'm using google maps street view, which is great by the way). What blocks are you referring to for the central downtown area? |
Hemlock at 1st Street is pretty much at the center of things. Hemlock is the divide between east and west and 1st Street is the divide between north and south Hemlock. |
You're right, t&g, I guess it's only two blocks! And that's from 1st to 3rd. There are also shops and restaurants on 2nd and Spruce between those two streets, but most are on either side of Hemlock.
My favorite restaurant and shop in town are across Hemlock from eachother, just south of Harrison (8 short block south of 1st): Gower St. Bistro, and Icefire Glassworks. But there are others as far south as Tolovana Park, where Mo's is located. |
Thanks bb, happytrails.
Did you guys check out google maps street view? I guess they had a digital camera mounted on a truck or car and took 360* shots every 25 feet or so. It's as though you're actually driving down the street. Most of Portland and northern Oregon have been mapped. Pretty cool stuff. |
Gower St. Bistro is also my favorite restaurant. It is about 1/2 mile south of 1st and Hemlock. Do make a reservation there. |
