Cannon Beach Day Trip

We have been in the PNW several days now, we spent two nights in Seattle at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel and are now in Seaside at our beach cottage for awhile. Yesterday we ventured out to the beautiful Cannon Beach area where we visited the bakery for some goodies and then went to Ecola State Park and took in the beautiful views of Haystack Rock and Tillamook Lighthouse. We also enjoyed strolling the town visiting the art galleries.

Cannon Beach is a lovely area of the Oregon Coast to spend time in, the Wayfarer is offering Copper River Salmon for a few more days, we dined there a couple of nights ago and had the Salmon topped with Goat Cheese which was wonderful.

Today after surfing in Seaside we spent the day in Astoria, we had appetizers at the Bridgewater Bistro and took in the gorgeous weather, out on the deck. We drove up to the top of Coxcomb Hill, they are renovating the Column and the top is off right now. We also stopped by the Commodore Hotel for a tour, it is the newest addition to the Astoria lodging scene and is very, very pretty!

On our way back to our beach cottage we stopped by the Paciifc Way Bakery and Cafe for some yummy Crab and Feta pizza and earlier in the day we enjoyed sitting out in the garden at Pop's Sweet Shop where we bought some Chocolate Fudge.

We are having a wonderful time in the PNW, the weather has been gorgeous for us! :)

Have you eaten at the Cannon Beach Cafe (where Cannon Beach Bistro used to be)?

We stopped by on a recent trip. The menu had very reasonable prices and I was wondering if the food is good.

We had a late lunch there a couple weeks ago, htty. Having been fans of Gower St. Bistro, we had high hopes. Dashed, they were.... The reasonable prices and large portions are Cannon Beach Cafe's most notable attributes (except maybe for the smoke coming from the kitchen). The food however, is entirely forgettable.

We stopped in at the Cannon Beach Cafe for dinner several weeks ago. I agree with beachbum - the prices were very reasonable, but the food was so-so. We were very disappointed in the wine selections - I didn't need or want high end, high priced wine - but I didn't want the bottom of the barrel either. We knew we were in trouble when we were informed by our waitress that they only had white chardonnay - no red. Just a little better understanding of wine might be a good thing. I'm willing to give them a little time and hope that maybe they will improve with time.

I don't think we'll try this place for awhile, I want to have some Pulled Pork sammies at Riverside BBQ and a meal at Yummy Wine Bar soon, so many restaurants so little time! ***kim*** ((*))

I would hold offon trying Yummy Wine Bar for a while. Since the chef left a couple of months ago the food has not been the same. I use to go in at least once a week for the chowder, all the seafood was amazing but as of late the quality has taken a turn. They closed down memorial day weekend and I think are still closed (operational adjustments?) Hopefully they can bounce back cause thats my favorite place on the coast!
