Cancun OR Acapulco - Which to choose
 

I have to choose between a trip to Cancun or a trip to Acapulco - 8 days in November. Would like to get feedback on pros / cons on each .... thanks

Try posting another message in the carribean bulletin board, all of the mexico postings are there. I'm going to cancun march 15 - but have never been to acapulco, just mazatlan. Have a good trip

We went to Cancun in October, a few years back, it was cool and rainy every day for a week. It is on the gulf coast and not as as warm and sunny as Acapulco on the pacific ocean, which is also much further south. Either way, don't be surprised if you leave the hotel complex and very friendly Mexicans follow you untill you buy something from them.

Cancun is a wonderful place to vacation; you
can just veg out or you can take advantage of
the Mayan ruins being so close for a day's trip.
We have been there in August and in January and
have been happy both times. Wonderful resturants and fun places too...and quite reasonable. Have fun wherever you go!

We like both places for different reasons. If we wanted to hang out at the beach and snorkel ---- we would go to Cancun. If we wanted to play golf and lounge poolside, we would go to the Acapulco Princess. Great golf! But we worry more about crime while in Acapulco, and never give it a second thought while in Cancun. The scenery is beautiful and lush in Acapulco, but the surf is too rough for swimming and the beaches are brown pebble sand. Cancun does have calm places to swim (like by the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach) and the beaches are prettier. Two very different type places. We do think Cancun is a lot cheaper than Acapulco. The Acapulco Princess is the home of the $8 hot dog! Cancun is also more *American*. Actually we prefer Cozumel to Cancun 10 to 1. Cancun is like being in Florida almost (there's nothing wrong with that). So it depends on what you are looking for. Have a nice trip wherever you go!
