Cancel My Hawaii Trip!

Just kidding! But I just toured all the major islands without spending a dime & popcorn in hand!

Really cool site. WAH!!! I need a trip there, it's been four years I think.

aloha Aug 13th, 2006 07:41 PM

That is cool...great pics. Thanks, Belle. Crefloors, I am crying with you...it has been 3 years and 3 months for me!

OneWanderingJew Aug 13th, 2006 09:47 PM

Since you're no longer going, I'll reluctantly take your spot ;)

CaliNurse Aug 13th, 2006 11:43 PM

SouthernBelle, awesome site! Thanks for sharing it.

OWJ must be a nice person --I'd have NO reluctance taking your spot.

Glad you're j/k. Incidentally, breakfast place (mentioned it in another thread) in the first small town south of Keauhou, along the road toward Captain Cook, is called Aloha Theater Cafe. You eat yummy food on wraparound porch, with visiting geckos, and distant views of ocean. And there are some interesting shops across the road. (I recall you saying you liked to do more than just relax on the beach... but also recalled you're from TX which turns out to not be the case!)

I'm surprised you don't remember my corny joke: I'm from LA!....Lower Alabama! That ocasionally gets a chuckle if done right in person!

Thanks and keep the ideas flowing! My DS is a breakfast person...I trying to learn to be, so we will check this place out!

As if I didn't already spend too much time on my computer, I now get to look at all these cool pictures. It's all your fault, OSB!

Thought I'd share a travel thought I'm sure none of us could relate to. We were talking about travel and the carry-on restrictions and fears of living in the times we do with my father-in-law. He's not one for travel. He said that nowadays someone can travel places and videotape it, and we can watch it at home - and therefore never need to travel.

CaliNurse Aug 14th, 2006 12:22 PM

OSB, your DS sounds as smart as my DS (also 27) who got me into the big-breakfast-on-vacation habit. At home--no breakfast. On vacation, it's a great way to savor ambiance ( fancy for "atmosphere"?) and food of a restaurant at a lower price than for dinner.

How DID I miss your LA joke? Lower Alabama? A couple who vacationed on Mississippi's "Redneck Riviera" (lol, love that erm) advised me to put it on a "future trip" list. If you don't mind crossing the state border, maybe we do that lunch when i get there.

So what resident of the Lone Star State was I thinking of ? Maybe Starrsville?

Creflors and Aloha, add my "WAAAAHS" to yours.

CaliNurse Aug 14th, 2006 12:26 PM

Karens, LOL. i read somewhere about a Dad having his kids stay in van at Grand Canyon, 'cause he couldnt find a parking place. He leaped out of car, camcorded the scene, and shouted to the kids, "You're not getting out! We'll watch this at home!"

What do you all think--hould we start a thread on this topic? Bet there's be some funny replies.

karens Aug 14th, 2006 12:39 PM

Good idea! I'll post my father-in-laws "terrorism solution".

starrsville Aug 14th, 2006 12:42 PM

I'm not from the Lone Star state, CaliNurse. I lived there years ago and go back about once a year for work. Maybe P M or Malesherbes?

CaliNurse Aug 14th, 2006 01:09 PM

Oh dear, neither Starrsville nor OSB's a Texan!!?? That brain tumor must've affected my memory more than I realized. Or is it just normal old-age forgetfulness?
I'd better grab Belle's cancelled spot to Hawaii now, before I forget where I'm going.

OK, Starrsvile, I'll copy the GC story onto Karen's new thread.

OldSouthernBelle Aug 14th, 2006 02:45 PM

CaliNurse: I rarely go to MS, but since DS moved there with his new job this year, it could be arranged!

bear900 Aug 14th, 2006 03:14 PM

OSB, I loved your LA (Lower Alabama) heritage. From another admitted cornster, I once asked a Spanish speaking lady where she was from.

"Juarez, Mexico".

I replied, "It's a country just below the the United States. Where are you from?"

"Juarez, Mexico."

This went on about three times before she kicked me in the shins! *-:)
