can you dive in hawaii
 
its a volcanic island so is it safe to dive the waters there?

There is plenty of decent scuba diving in Hawaii. Of course you would want to avoid the water off the Big Island when the lava is dripping into it. (Although I'm sure there are dive groups who probably dive it even then.)

the volcanic island makes for lots of great dives due to the lava tubes they produce ,lonely planet do a snorkeling and diving guide that is worth a look.

Snorkel Bob's is a popular guide/equipment shop. They also give lessons. They are in Kona on the BI.
