Can we bring sandwiches and drinks inside Disneyland?
 

Hi! I just want to know if we could possibly bring in sandwiches, chips, and drinks (bottled water and soda) inside Disneyland? I'm planning to bring these since the price of meals in the restaurants are so high. But We're planning to eat in a nice restaurant for lunch. Just haven't figured which one yet :)

I haven't been to Disneyland in quite some time but I used to live in Orange County and went every year. I don't know if you will have a car but we used to leave our food and drinks in the car and go out to eat and get a reenter stamp.I'm sure current locals can give you better advice.

Last time I went to Disney WORLD it was fine...no issues at all. Why is it different at LAND?

Do you really want to lug them around all day?

It's been awhile but we had a bottled water and they asked us to finish it up.
From a business perspective, why would they let you bring in your own food and drink?
Key is to have a big breakfast before you arrive at the park.
Maybe you can tuck a energy bar in everyones pocket.

i was at disneyland in april and there was families that had brought in entire picnics. i watched an asian family eating fried rice out of a HUGE bowl and another family next to us had subway sandwiches. i figured they had changed the rules with the economy

We have passes and go all the time - I have often had water bottles and snacks in my purse and they have never said a word. They do a bag check on both sides of the park entrances and when you board in downtown disney - but never had them take anything or say anything.

CW -- that link's for Disney World, not Disneyland. And the WDW resort has many theme parks, not just the two that Disneyland has.

With the exception of food items for Guests with specific dietary restrictions, food or beverage items are not permitted into either of the Disneyland Resort theme parks.

So I guess you could say that you have specific dietary restrictions not to spend $4.00 on a soft drink and $9 on greasy, inedible fish and chips.

Have breakfast outside the park, have a nice lunch inside the park and you probably won't need any snacks at all. We always buy one water or one drink and just share it between the three of us and that is plenty. Food in your purse all day by the evening meal is going to be pretty gross anyway. If you eat a good breakfast and lunch, then I can't imagine eating a big third meal anyway. You can make it on a lot less food in a day than you think. Most of the times, kids don't care about eating when at Disney anyway. You could splurge and get a snack later in the day.

Interesting that the parks have different policies--maybe more locals visit Disneyland and would be inclined to bring lunch?

Clark, I do like a lot of the Disney food.

You can spring 'small' snacks without a problem. If you bring a 'picnic' then it's going to be a problem.

I actually enjoy a lot of the food as well - DownTown Disney has some good places to eat as well.

I agree with spirobulldog and have a big breakfast outside of the park. Years ago my sister and I were able to sneak in food in our backpacks and no one batted an eyelash. These days they seem to be more strict.

With a big breakfast you can have lunch later, which is a plus in that you miss SOME of the lunch rush (there seems to always be food traffic no matter what, but at least you'll have a chance to escape longer lines!)

My favorite place to eat in the park, hands down, is Blue Bayou. Mind, it's the priciest restaurant within Disneyland, but there's something fun (and maybe a bit off putting) about dining within the simulated Southern evening atmosphere. It's "inside" the pirates of caribbean ride (more like off to the side) so if you luck out and get a table close to the "water" you can watch the riders in the boats just as they are entering the main part of the attraction. Their monte cristo sandwiches are to die for - although i'm sure you lose a few years of your life when you eat one!
