Can someone recommend a fabulous resort in Fla.?
My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in June and I'm looking for some place great to go. I've heard the Ritz Carlton in Naples is beautiful. Are there any other great 5-star (or really nice) resorts that anyone would recommend. I want some place tropical, warm, and a pretty resort. I'm the sit-by-the-pool with a fruity drink type.

Polly: Husband and I did same trip in
April last year. Little Palm Island is the most fabulous place. It is ideal for a special occasion. It is on a small island of it's own off the coact of one of the FL keys. ONly 35 rooms, no children allowed. Tropical, peaceful and beautiful. They even serve dinner right on the beach during sunset. Relax by the pool and have a Gumby Runner the "house" drink. I can't wait to go back. They have a website you can check out. Enjoy!!

Miami would be a great place to fit your needs. We have several nice luxury hotels that just opened, including a Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key and Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne. Also the Sonesta on Key Biscayne is very nice. You are also a short drive from all the shopping and great night spots.
Missy

Boca Beach Club is fabulous.
Amelia Island Plantation is fabulous.

You won't go wrong with either one.

there are so many options since Florida is a pretty big state. Do you want east coast, west coast? any other attractions nearby, will you be doing anything besides hangin at the hotel? Naples area has great places for quiet upscale experience, Miami has great places for fun, exciting, people watching, West Palm Beach has old grand hotels i.e.Breakers with Worth Ave shopping nearby, Further north there are probably nice places with pristine beaches and then the Keys...In Miami there are places on Key Biscayne, new great places on South Beach and then theres the Biltmore in Coral Gables, which is always a luxurious treat out by the pool. Coral Gables is an upscale suburb with this old historic hotel in the middle of homes. Golf, tennis and a gorgeous pool. I didn't realize how much Florida has to offer...

Stayed at the RC in Naples and have never found a better place. I have stayed in some of the VERY best hotels and resorts in the country including the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC, and the new Bacara in Santa Barbara. We always measure on the RC Naples scale and nothing else comes close. During our stay we both tried to describe the incredible service and we dedcided that it went like this, if we had an itch, someone scratched it before we knew it itched, and we never felt their presence while they took care of the itch. We even went on a quest to find an ashtray that had a butt in it, or at least didn't have the lionhead stamp in the sand and couldn't find one in the six days we were there. We got alot of giggles on our search though! The facility is unbelievably beautiful and elegant, the food was indescribable, the room was on a corner and quite large with a gulf view. The service at the beach was so good, when you walk down the wood steps to the beach, before your feet hit the sand, two people come running... one with towels, one with a lounger and you just point to where you want them. Before you get settled, a waitress is there to take your drink or food order. It was the best pampering I have ever experienced.

Sent my mom to the Four Seasons in Palm Beach for her birthday last year. It was so fabulous she didn't leave the property for 4 days. Guess what she wants this year?

The Breakers in Palm Beach. Great spa, restaurants, pools, scenery, etc. Loved it!
|
My husband and I took our children to the Breakers one summer and there was literally nobody there. It's a huge hotel and I'm sure during the high season is wonderful, but it was like a morgue in the summer. Even Worth Avenue was closed. We left after one night.
