can poor people go to hawaii?

we live in hilton head,sc...we're not exactly poor but pretty cheap.I have enough sky miles for one plane ticket and thinking of going to hawaii with my boyfriend. what is the minimum amount we will spend (without sleeping where we might get mugged)?

You can find accomodations under $65- a night on several islands. Look-through the accomodations listing on the HCVB website: gohawaii.com. Check under condos. and vacation rentals as well as hotels.

If you are willing to stay in a hostel, you can find accomdations for even less.

If your budget is very limited you will probably want to eat at least some of your meals where you are staying so look for something w/ a kitchenette.

Also, bring as much as you can w/ you, including some non-perishable food, b/c almost everything is more expensive in HI.

Best wishes and let us know how your planning comes along!

I forgot to say that you certainly also check the Bed and Breakfast section.

I also feel I must say that you really should wait until you are married to take this trip together.

Why on earth are you posting here, noach.
Have you ever been to hawaii? And where do you get off giving moral advise?
Get LOST!

It also depends on how long you plan to be in Hawaii and what you like to do. Some of the activities can be expensive (Polynesian Cultural Center, Paradise Cove Luau, Magic of Polynesia, etc.) but the beaches are free! I think I told someone else to try the YMCA: www.centralymcahonolulu.org. This is really really cheap, right across the beach & shopping center, and at the edge of Waikiki.

Yes, I think you did and I took a look at the website. Looks very appealing if indeed if it is clean: Rooms w/ private bathroom for under $36.50 a night. It doesn't specify anything the views, though. Also, would you know anything about the Penthouses for $50- a night?

Noach Sep 24th, 2000 06:49 PM

Oops, that's $36.50 a night, NOT under $36.50. Here is exactly what the site says:

Room Rates
Penthouse with private bath facilities:
One night: $50 single / $60 double

Rooms with private bath facilities:
1 night up to 7 nights: $36.50 single / $51.50 double
On the 8th continuous day the rate drops to: $32.50 single / $47.50 double
No weekly or monthly rates are available on these rooms.

Rooms with central bath facilities (for men only):
One night: $29 single / $40 double
One week: $149 single / $239 double
One month: $549 single / $NA double

Please inquire about other available room upgrades.
