Absolutely Paris. It's truly magical! Just take a little time to read about the customs and pick up a few courtesy phrases in french and you'll be treated like royalty.
Ed, congratulations on 54 years!!!

Absolutely no question about it - use that passport and go to Paris!
I've been to both (have friends and family in California and have seen all of the state) which is nice, but if you are celebrating something special like your tenth anniversary, my vote is for Paris everytime.
May is a wonderful time in Paris; (I went last February and it was freezing and I still loved it!) Paris/France has everything you're looking for: romance, culture, history - everywhere you look there is beauty. go go go!

Paris would get my vote too. I live in northern California, have a condo at Tahoe, and LOVE Yosemite and SF, but Paris is a very special place.
(You are lucky being on the east coast. If I lived there, because of the shorter flights, I'd be in Paris or London or Florence or where ever, every month or so.)

Just a note to all those posting here. All of watoga's other posts on Fodors have been removed. They were mainly questions and negative statements about "gypsies" and about Eastern European unrest. She appeared to be exposed as a repeated troll. Considering that she was asking questions about such things in Eastern Europe but says here she's never even been to Europe, this question now seems stranger than ever.

This Patrick guy seems like a strange one. He posts 10 times a day and has nothing else to do but try to have posters banned who post about interesting topics beyond simple silly questions.
I say Patrick should be banned from Fodors!

PAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIISSSSSS!!
Hands down! Love CA, don't get me wrong. But, for a life changing experience Paris IS the place. Another poster said it is like another world, time or place. Yes, it is like you are living a dream. I put off going to Paris for years. I always thought Rome was a favorite of mine (I am Italian and partial) and I had heard the French were were not nice. PLEEESe don't listen to these remarks and GO! Culturally we are very different from the French. My words of advise is learn a few words of French and use them to greet and say thank you. Smile and be polite and gracious. YOu will in most cases be treated the same in return. I did not have one bad experience. I dream of returning to Paris like so many others. I hope to hear that you choose Paris!
