Can I spend three days in Key West...
without getting on Duval at all? This will be my fourth time there and IMO that I'd love to find other options.
|
I've spent a lot longer than three days there without going near Duval Street. Duval Street probably takes up less than 5% of Key West - wander around all the other areas and visit nearby islands as well.
|
Any specific suggestions, particularly for locals' hangouts, bars & dining options?
|

There are lots of good restaurants off Duval. In fact, most good restaurants are off of Duval.

But are you looking for local's hangouts?
|
Not only locals hangouts, as I am seeking options other than Duval, as I have not been off that strip very much, and am not familiar with the other areas.

Thanks for suggestions.

Eat at the Half Shell Raw Bar, the best place in town, bar none.

I agree with the above poster about the Half Shell Raw Bar...it's always our first meal in Key West. There are several other restaurants near Key West Bight (the Historic Seaport) that're good, too. Pepe's attracts both locals and tourists and has great breakfasts, among other meals. The A&B Lobster House is good if you are willing to spend $$$. The Schooner Wharf Bar has great music. For cheap Cuban food off the beaten path, try El Siboney. 7 Fish is another good restaurant away from Duval. I spend lots of time in Key West, but not much time on Duval.
