Got this as a gift for my sister's new house! Can i carry this in the plane with me?? I am flying from SLC to Boston |
It would be pretty difficult since it is 30 inches high. Would you have other carry on's?
|
Not if it's 30inches in the box, carry ons have a limit of about 22 inches, 24 on some larger planes. However, perhaps unassembled in the box, it is not 30 inches?
|
It's 30 inches high, but if you take the time to bend all the "branches" and put it into a shorter box it should be okay. If the original box is wide enough, you might be able to use it after cutting down the height.
My friend has this light and she has all the branches bent down and out. Just don't put sharp creases in them! |
There is an IKEA southwest of Boston
|
You also could have it sent from IKEA to your sister's and avoid the trouble at the airport.
|
If you already have it you could just ship it UPS. It only weighs 6 lbs. I have mailed back boots that weighed more and it only costs about $12.
|
Do you have it in hand--and does it really measure 30" in the box? Knowing IKEA they probably have those bent down to ship--maybe.
As others have said, mail it--or order it in boston for her. |
Call the airline and ask them their policy.
On domestic flights I have taken recently I have been allowed to take aboard one suitcase that fits in the overhead and one hand bag. If the object fits in your handbag, there should be no problem. HTtY |
Hi all.
Thanks for the reply. But it does not fit in my hand luggage and I dont have a check in baggage too.. So is it better to ship it?? |
Yes.
|
I should have added that if you show up at the gate with a package you can't take on the plane, you will be asked to check it or to discard it. The cost of checking the package is likely to be greater than the cost of shipping it.
