Camping Question

Hello all!
I am planning a trip with another girlfriend in just a few weeks. We were thinking of staying a t the KOA because it seemed it would be safer but I was wondering if you knew of any good places near or at the Oregon and California coast.

There are many wonderful campgrounds on the coast, but you are talking about a huge area-where specifically do you want to go?
I'm not sure why a KOA would be "safer" than another type of campground. Busier, noisier, less scenic and more RV's, certainly.

if you are tent camping, a koa would be the last place i'd choose. do a search for california state parks you'll get some info.

I think you'll find lots of safe places to camp on the Oregon coast -
Beachside state park south of Waldport has yurts you can rent - in advance-
Jesse Honeyman State Park has camping in Oregon's sand dunes- close to the town of Florence-

I'd definitely go the state park route rather than the KOA route.

KOAs are ok, but they are loud and crowded and full of RVs like others have said. State parks will be much more scenic and probably more peaceful. Many have bathroom and shower facilities.

I don't think safety is much of an issue - as far as safety from other people and wild animals - in any of the state parks. There are always rangers and plenty of people around. I think in the outdoors, we are usually our own worst enemies ;)
