Recommendations for campsites near Asheville, NC appreciated (near=less than an hour away from Asheville). Thanks.

Define "camping" :-)

We have everything from primative to complete hookups.

Sorry, should have been more specific. Tent camping, not too primative this trip - would like access to a bathhouse. Are reservations typically accepted/recommended?

Please checkout the following. It has been several years since I visited/stayed at these camp grounds, but I find each area interesting.

Davidson River Campground - south of
Asheville near Brevard, NC - about an hour away from Asheville - lots of civilization in Brevard - lots of hiking ,fishing, and the best of all Sliding Rock.

Lake Powhatan Campground - just south of Asheville - near the Biltmore Square Mall - near the NC Arboretum

Hot Springs Campground & Spa - north of
Asheville - natural hot springs near by.
Near the Appalachian Trail.

US Forest Service - Pisgah National Forest, Hot Springs 828 622-3202 - this is the most remote - I haven't camped there since childhood - I hiked there several years ago and love the area.

You should be able to find these sites on the Internet.

agree w/ M, except I would say Davidson river is only 30-35 mins from Asheville.
