Camping in the UP

Hi all. I'm a MI native looking to camp in or near the UP this summer. I'm hoping to make a reservation this week. Any suggestions? We favor state parks and are considering Tahquamenon Falls-- but which site-- Lower or the Mouth? We like to have running water and electricity, so no rustic sites.

Thanks in advance!

I'm interested in tent-camping only, but I'll give it a shot. If anyone else has suggestions, please feel free to add:)

Mention that you are looking for tent camping. There are other RV's like us that prefer campgrounds that don't have hookups and we don't run our generators when in the campsite.

We camped in the UP last year and stayed in the State Park campground at Brimley and I HATED it. It was so crowded and noisy and the bathrooms, although cleaned frequently, were a mess. I will never, ever, camp in a State Park campground again. We tent camp, and the sites at Bayview, on Lake Superior are wonderful. There is no running water or electricity, but you are right on the beach, it is secluded and I'll take my own solar shower over the State Park bathhouses any day!!!!!

We drove through Tahquamenon campgrounds and they were also extremely crowded - but I'd pick the Mouth if forced to stay in one or the other - it is more scenic and a lot less like camoing in a subdivision than Lower.

Wilderness State Park, just south of the bridge in the Lower Pen is lovely.
