Camping along Oregon coast
Does anyone have a good campground to suggest somewhere near the halfway point along the Oregone coast? We are looking for a spacious site, one where you are not awning to awning. Not necessarily on water.

Seems to me there was a post just like this in the past couple of days. Anyhow - I suggested staying at a nice campground just south of Depoe Bay (just south of Lincoln City) and there were other suggestions for Yurts, etc.

Most of the campgrounds are operated either by the State Parks and Rec Dept. or the US Forest Service. Forest Service campgrounds are probably more what you're looking for, but they also are more rustic and have fewer services. State Parks campgrounds on the other hand are mostly "awning to awning" but have all the services you'd want. One of the few exceptions is Carl Washburne, where the campsites are "walk-in" only. Aren't many there though, so you'd definitely want to make a reservation. Couple others I like are Sunset Bay and Cape Lookout, which, because they're a ways off hwy 101, aren't as busy as many/most others.

I too like campsites in the dunes area. I have camped several times at Honeyman. Whether awning to awaning depends on the site.
