Cameron Trading Post
 

We are looking at staying at the Lodge at Cameron & spending 2 days around the Grand Canyon & then down to Sedona.We're from Australia & this is our 1st visit to the US.Is Cameron a reasonable distance to drive to the Canyon or is there a better option.

The obvious question is why you are not spending one night at the Grand Canyon?

You might want to look into staying at Grand Canyon itself or in Tusayan (too-sigh-YAHN) near the park's south entrance. Much more to do in either place. Cameron is a windswept, rocky place overlooking the Little Colorado River (when it is flowing), reminds me of the red, desolate country around Alice Springs or Ayres Rock.

Cameron is just a road intersection with a couple of stores and the trading post with lodge. The lodge is pretty nice, with a nice restaurant, and it's about half an hour to the GC. You are at the edge of the Painted Desert, but I think one night here is enough, with the other night either at a lodge inside the GC or at Tusayan.

Definitely try to stay in the Grand
Canyon National Park. Cameron Trading Post is an ideal spot for excursions into the country around the park. We stayed there last year and enjoyed it. It is not grand, but comfortable and clean with a good restaurant.
When ordering the Navajo Tacos only get the small size. You will never be able to eat the large one. Also, try the Navajo fry bread.

My taste buds are working overtime in anticipation of all the new & wonderful cuisine we are going to indulge in!!Just as well I got rid of those extra kilos for this trip!
