Cambridge-Name of Park with maples?
Someone posted (I can't find it), the name of a park near Harvard Square where there might be lots of trees with different colored foliage.
What is the name of that park...or area please>?
|
Could it be Mt. Auburn Cemetery? It really is a lovely park with many unusual plantings and great tourguides.
|
No John, but since it sounds like it's a fave place of yours, maybe I can visit you there when I go? ;-)
|
Ileana, might it be the Common and Garden in Boston? They are parks very close to each other. The Garden is a bit more formal and that is where the swan boats are during the warm weater months. Don't know if they have been retired for the season yet.

They both have huge old trees that are at least 100 years old or more and the colors in the parks are beautiful this time of year.

Have fun during your visit.

Thank you, Tweedy. If I remember the poster correctly they specifically mentioned in Harvard. H owever, The Common and Public Gardens are definitely one of my stops..

THe only thing I can think of that you might be talking about is the cambridge common. I think Mt. AUburn would be a better place, though. There is nothing else, except the riverbank.

Umm, you weren't thinking of the Arnold arboretum, were you? Owned by Harvard, but not in Cambridge.
|
I too think you might be thinking of the Mt. Auburn Cemetery; it's not just a cemetery; it was designed by a famous landscape architect, is very much like a park; I think the Audubon society is connected somehow as well. It is a beautiful, beautiful place.

You may be thinking of the Arnold Arboretum, as Charles pointed out. It's a wonderful place to wander around and enjoy trees at any time of year. I've brought a posting about foliage in the Boston area to the top for you, that may be where you read about it before.
