California wine country maps?
I will be visiting the Napa/Sonoma region at the end of Feburary, 2003 and have been searching for a map of vineyards. I have had little luck. While I can find a number of maps online, none are both comprehensive in their listings of wineries and concise road maps. Can anyone give me suggestion for a good map, either through downloading or purchaseing? Thank you

Most of the ones online are good for the larger wineries. In the case of Napa they are literally lined up in a row. It may serve you to search out some particular wineries prior to going & plan from there. There are many maps once you arrive but since many of the smaller (& better) wineries only produce small amounts & sell locally they won't appear on any map. I'll suggest a few that are not so popular. Napa - Reguczi, BR Cohn & Pride (the first 2 both have great olive oils as well) are some of my favorites. For Sonoma - Ledson, Quivera & Preston (bakery on site, great place for lunch). Napa is more compact, pricey & a little more snobby. Sonoma is friendlier & you are more likely to get a chance to barrel taste or meet the winemakers & many do not charge a tasting fee. hope this helps. Actually the Napa maps aren't bad. You basically have 2 main roads w/crossroads every couple of miles.

You may also wish to go to your local bookstore and buy a travel map from "MapEasy".
They have a good one of Napa/Sonoma called "MapEasy's Guidemap to Napa/Sonoma".
It lists a lot of wineries, restaurants, hotels, sights and shopping areas.

Maybe we'll run into you since we're planning a belated V'tine's Day trip to Sonoma or Yountville.
Bottom's Up!
