Where in Calfornia and for how long? If you provide a little more information, perhaps I could give you some ideas. California is a very large and diverse state.

Duh .... ever heard of Disneyland? five miles away is Knotts Berry Farm. Universal Studios and their City Walk? Venice Beach Boardwalk? Rodeo Drive? Malibu? Santa Monica Pier? Hollywood and Vine? museums are nice. Westwood is real close to Rodeo Drive, it's fun to walk around. Downtown LA is interesting: the garment district, jewlery district, Chinatown, Japantown, Koreatown, Olvera Street is kind of like being IN Mexico. San Diego is only a few hours away by car and definitely is a lot of tourist attractions there. Relax. Have fun.

We just returned from a week in CA with the grandkids, ages 10 and 12. Went todisneyland and the beach, to U. Studios, etc and they had a Grand time. If you go to Disney, go EARLY, and do what they want before lunch time, then go back to the hotel to swim, read, relax, then back in the evening..the night shows are specatular (and crowded). If you stay at a Disney hotel you can get an early entry privilage, and it is worth it. Also, the beaches are fun, and if money is an issue, you can rent inline skates for skating on the beach, etc. There is lots to do in California.... have fun

Rob, do the kids still remember, now that 5 years have passed?

If a boy was 18 and a girl was 15 they must remember! What's your problem, BB? Did you think 18m and 15f means their age in months, not years and gender?

Faina, relax-- BB is being a little sarcastic. I think he's also gently pointing out that this forum's pre-registration postings occasionally didn't hit the intellectual level of "The Harvard Review", as some would have us think. Actually, this one barely hits the intellectual level of "Girls Gone Wild!"....

The most memorable vacation for me was when I was 3 years old. A trip to the high sierra, backpacking with parents and a group.

I would think a mix of nature and fun would be memorable. Like Big Sur, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Cannery Row. It is all here on the Monterey Pennisula.

I forgot to say that what I remember most about Disney Land, at 5 years old, was losing my baloon that I just got, and not being able to go on the big kid rides. Just the boring flat bottom ferry were I could tell the hippos were fake. It went so slow.
