I am taking my 6 year old daughter to Disneyland in the beginning of March. We will be spending three days at Disneyland. We have a extra day were we wanted to go to the beach. What are the best beaches that are not to far from Disneyland? How is the weather in March? What is the best beach for families? Any ideas on what not to miss?

Early March is generally NOT beach weather, but just last weekend we had temperatures in the 70s and 80s, so you really never know. You could luck out.
Heading west and south from Anaheim you'll hit some great beaches: Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, etc., etc., etc. Huntington Beach is Surf City USA, and the great waves tend to attract serious surfers in late winter, so you might give it a "pass" and head a little farther south to the more genteel beaches of Newport or the coves of Laguna. What not to miss? There's a little bit of everything in the world in this part of the country-- what do YOU like? |
I guess I am centering this trip around my daughter who is six. Some place with playgrounds and good sand to make sand castles, and a pier. I want to have a relaxing day after Disneyland.

Corona Del Mar is close by and a great family beach.

It is VERY likely you won't have sand castle weather. I'd ditch the beach idea and plan on something else.

I would have an indoor option for that day, just in case.
