Caffe Sport?

I heard the chef/owner of Caffe Sport passed away. Is the restaurant now closed?

Nancy, this is meant to be a helpful suggestion. When a reader sees this post, he has no way of knowing where you are talking about. You may have clicked California or New York or whatever, but your post comes up in with all US posts. The only way I could find out where you are talking about is by clicking each state one by one until I found which one you had also clicked for your post.

I bring this up, because I also noticed a post you did about where to eat after the show and again there is no indication where this show is -- New York? Las Vegas?

Oops - When I clicked a state I just assumed it showed up only in that state. Caffe Sport is in San Francisco, or at least it was about five years ago when we last went. And by "the show," I meant NYC, where we're going in December. Thanks.

If you click a state, you are right, it will show up in that state. But I think the majority of us just go down the full list of posts and answer or respond to the ones that grab our attention. When we do that we have no way of knowing.

Thanks for understanding. Lately it seems when I make suggestions like this I get attacked for being rude to beginners. I'm just trying to make the forum more effective for all of us.

And very interesting that you've explained. I figured out the other one was in New York only when people mentioned Nobu and something else, so my guess was Caffe Sport was also New York. I never would have guessed San Francisco!!

I just automatically go straight to the state, so I assumed that's what everyone else did. Now I know - thanks.

Caffe Sport was one of our favorite Italian restaurants 20 year ago, and we were regulars for a good five years, until we moved out of the City. I'd heard it closed after the chef passed away recently, but if it's still open and still good, I'd love to give it another visit.

Also, Patrick, I've managed to get reservations at Le Bernardin (per your recommendation)in December. Can't wait to try it out!

You won't be sorry!

Nancy, yes that is true, the owner has passed away. However, they are still open (same family). We used to live in SF and Cafe Sport was our favorite restaurant, the food's still the same when we were there 6 months ago.

Thanks for the update. We have some friends visiting us from Texas who have never left the state. Wanted to give them a taste of something fun, different and yummy.
