CAESARS PALACE OR TREASURE ISLAND
 

n a dilema, which hotel is the best for location, things to do, shopping etc. There is not much in price between the 2 for a stay in July - also what temp is average for the month of July??

Caesars is the best for location. Forum Shops (huge mall) are located in Caesars Palace.<BR><BR>It will be hot, hot, hot in July - over 100. My nephew got married in Las Vegas two years ago and it was 116 degrees that day!!! It was brutal - but it's a dry heat - HA!

No no no, Treasure Island is the way to go. Caesars is undergoing MAJOR construction and the casino is a logistical nightmare. Also, Celine will be performing, which means CROWDS. Treasure Island is smaller and more manageable, rooms are good and the location is great.

Ok...let me give you MY experience from Treasure Island.<BR><BR>Very nice hotel with nice clean modern accomodations...HOWEVER, if you pay extra and get a view of the battleship that goes off every 20 minutes...believe me you will regret it.<BR><BR>If you are up until the wee hours of the night, no big deal, but if you want to go to bed @ midnight.<BR><BR>Every 20 minutes you will start to hear &quot;...ahoy are you trying to take over our ship...bla bla bla Cannon bombs, etc.<BR><BR>Just something to consider.

Mind her criteria- Caesars is in a better location, the shopping at TI can not even compare to the Forum Shops, and there is definitely more to do closer to the hotel. TI is nice to be linked to Mirage but other than that? And it's loaded with kids...<BR><BR>As for the construction, it is scheduled to be done in March, even if it runs long, there's no way it should last until July.<BR><BR>The casino at Caesar's is large and confusing but she didn't ask for a smaller friendlier casino.<BR><BR>But yes, unfortunately, Celine Dion will be playing there...

Caesars!<BR>They have a nice pool area too, for when you're melting from the heat!

There are so many different room locations at Caesars - which to request?

Someone mentioned the crowds due to Celine. I'm curious. How many more people will that seat than the two shows a night at Treasure Island -- Mystere?<BR>I'd vote for Caesar's.

I still think Caesars is a NIGHTMARE. I've never walked through without seeing construction. I had one good gambling experience there on my first trip, but have walked in on two subsequent trips and walked out almost as fast. I will never stay there and I doubt I'll ever gamble there. Too bad because it's definitely &quot;old&quot; Vegas. <BR><BR>And as for shopping, from Treasure Island it's an easy walk to the Fashion Show Mall, much better shopping than Caesars.<BR><BR>Hey &quot;x,&quot; as for crowds? Celine's theater seats 4,000; the Mystere theater seats 1,500. So two Mystere shows per night definitely don't equal one Celine show. Think of the crush of people arriving at Caesar's all at once . . . the horror, the horror.

OK, so the difference between 1500 people coming and 1500 people going (3000 at once) and 4,000 at Celine's is a total of 1000 people?? Oh, the horror. Huh?

1-Fashion Show Mall is mostly redone in the back part and one of the nicer malls in the West...and MUCH MUCH better shopping than Forum Shops.<BR><BR>2-Caesar's cheaper rooms are VERY old and beat up. The cheap rates are for the old rooms. Don't go there.<BR><BR>3-Why would anyone pay actual money to see Celine Dion. They hammer her mercilessly on Saturday Night Live and I think that says I'm not alone on this one.<BR><BR>4-The average daily high in LV in July is 104. Forget dry heat. It's just plain hot.

Yes, 1500 people depart Mystere show #1 and 1500 arrive for Mystere show #2; BUT there are about 45 minutes of lag time between the the two shows. And YES, 1000 people does make a difference. If you don't believe me, I'd like to plop you in the middle of a crowd of 1000 and see how quickly you can extract yourself. <BR><BR>Let's go over this ONE MORE TIME: Celine's show means that 4000 people arrive at the same time, and depart at the same time. They will probably all be singing her songs as they leave. Some will be weepy because she moved them so profoundly. Any intelligent person within 50 yards will want to kill themselves, if the crowd doesn't trample them first.

I don't care about Celine Dion, but her show was developed by Franco Dragone, the same guy who developed the latest Cirque du Soleil shows.<BR><BR>Should be interesting.

Maybe Franco can disguise her...and her annoying voice...such that it'd be a tolerable production.<BR>That WOULD amaze me!

Caesars--no question. Treasure Island is a very boring place to stay. The pool is boring, boring, boring--while the pool at Caesars is one of the best in Vegas. There are a bunch of them and they are set up like Roman baths with columns and a fountain in one of them. <BR>There are good restaurants and shops at Caesars and you will feel more in the thick of Vegas.<BR>In terms of location--both are central, so that doesn't matter.

OK, 'don't', you paint a vivid picture of those Celine fans. You're right. You win!!!
