Caesars Palace or The Mirage what's your opinion?????

I am having a dilemma, I'm planning a trip to Vegas in December and am undecided on a hotel. I've narrowed it down to Caesars Palace and The Mirage. Ideally it would be nice to hear from someone who has stayed at both so they can make the comparison. Your comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a bunch! Have a great day!

Although I have not seen the rooms at Caesor's Palace, I have been in the Hotel and Casino many times. I have stayed at the Mirage.

It depends upon what you are looking for as far as your choice of Hotels.

Understand that almost all rooms in Las Vegas are very simple unless you are a high-roller. They want you to spend very little time in your room.

Caesar's rooms are a bit older, the hotel and casino do not have much pizzaz but, they have a absolutely wonderful shopping Forum (expensive) but something you should see whether you stay there or not. This alone is a big plus for them as well as having many restaurants in the Forum.

The Mirage seems a bit more glamorous to me, it is newer, larger, more open and the rooms are very nice, infact they have just been renovated.

Especially in December, I think Mirage would have a better atmosphere.

I will be in Las Vegas in December - Staying at the Hard Rock Hotel.

You should get a very good rate in Dec., especially if your trip is Sun.-Thurs. it is a slow time unless your plans are after Dec. 26th then prices are high for New Years.

Haven't stayed at either, but I did hear there's lots of construction going on at Caesar's, so you might want to take that into consideration.

recently stayed at ceasars, a very cool place to stay, very adult oriented...mirage has a circus-like atmosphere, not that one goes to vegas for peace & tranquility, but a little sophistication is nice...go to ceasars!

Am I a tie-breaker?? Caesars was stuffy and old feeling to me. Mirage was like a tropical rain forest. Have been to both in the past year, would not bo gack to Caesars but would to Mirage

Both are nice indeed, but the Mirage is by far a better atmosphere and a nicer climate. It is true all hotel rooms are practically identical, so the real choice is what sort of theme you prefer. The Mirage sports a salt water tank behind the hotel check in complete with mini sharks and a faux tropical rain forest to walk through. It boasts a dolphin tank and a handy railway to Treasure Island. The inside is beautiful and the gambling seems to be better there. I've never won at Caesar's, but I do have fairly good luck at The Mirage. I guess it's obvious where my preference lies.

I too like Mirage and Caesars. The Mirage rooms are nice but nothing extrodinary. The rooms at Caesars are nice too. Some are fabulous!!!! I like the atmosphere at Caesars better than Mirage for some reason maybe a little more laid back. I do like the Caesars Casino.. I like Harrahs as the other person recommended. The rooms in the new part are nice but I don't think they are comparable to Mirage or Caesars.
I think if you like glitz and action you will be happy at any of the newer strip hotels. It is the tackiest place on earth and I LOV IT!!!!!
Am going in Oct. and I can hardly wait....

Have fun and enjoy!!!

I don't know your age - but if you are under the age of 50+, then you are going to find both of these hotels to be very stuffy. I would realy reccomend that you check out the MGM or Hard Rock if your <50.

The Hard Rock is kind of off by it's self, where the MGM is where it's all happening down on the strip. Also - DO NOT MISS THE EFX SHOW @ MGM. It is soo totally awsome. It is well worth the $50.00.

Caesers is so full of very obnoxious security people that it really distracts from the experiance.

Have a great time and drop us a note after you get back.

forget caesars... the room was nice but i thought it was overpriced, also there lounges are full of hookers.!!!!
it's not on the strip but nothing comes close to
" RIO " for me.
i'm not one to stand in line for any buffet at any price but the voodoo lounge and cafe are worth the effort.

My husband and I just got back from LasVegas a few days ago. Both hotels are nice but if we were to go again we'd pick Caesars. The shopping arcade is very nice with some great restaurants and the casino is very nice. We didn't find too much construction there in particular but now the entire strip is under construction with three new hotels going up. I would try to stay at wherever is cheapest as you are NEVER in your room. Our other choice would have been MGM - if it is cheaper stay there.

Absolutely the best hotel to stay at these days is the Rio. All rooms are suites, about 600 square feet with king sized bed, enormous sofa, refigerator, coffee maker, etc., etc. I just stayed there last week. They have a great seafood buffet and the carnival buffet, both of which are enormous and much superior to most run-of-the-mill Vegas buffets where the food all seems to come from the same buffet warehouse. If you gamble insist on being "comped." All major casinos comp but the Rio, in my experience, is the least demanding as far as required playing time is concerned. Also, by being comped by the pit boss you can get in the special comp line at the buffets and avoid the very long line. I would never stay at Caesar's again. They were just bought by a giant conglomerate and have tighten up everything, especially comping. I believe that comping is an integral part of the gambling experience in Vegas and any multi-million dollar hotel that can't take care of its rollers and slot machine players should be avoided. Some advice about comping. Don't beg for it. Insist on it when you check in with the pit boss. And make him/her tell you exactly what it takes to get free room and food so that it is not left to someone's whim when you check out. And make sure you charge all food to your room # rather than paying cash so that it will be included in the comp. Also, expect them to cover food for all of the non-gambling people in your party.

The Mirage is newer and nicer. But Casear gets the Forum where I hanged around when I am not gambling. I guessed my vote goes to Mirage since the Forum is very close to Mirage. You can stay in Mirage and go to the Forum. I also liked Mirage because I went into both Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman on two separate occasions on the same weekend.
