Cab ride cost to Universal Studios in CA

Does anyone out there know the cost of a cab ride from Van Nuys Airport to Universal Studios in California?

It's roughly 13 miles VNY to Universal-- using standard Yellow Taxi rates, that would be about $52.

Thanks. We are just trying to figure out how to get to the Sheraton Universal Hotel from the "Fly Away" Terminal at Van Nuys. I wonder about the "Red Line" I've read about? Where would we get on it and will it stop at the Universal Studios? It would be a cheaper way of getting to the hotel with minimal luggage. Who knows about this option? Also, are rental car agencies near the "Fly Away"?

Flyaway bus leaves LAX (every terminal) and goes to Union Station (40 min...do not take Van Nuys Flyaway). $6 roundtrip. At union Station you switch to red line metro towards Hollywood ($3 day pass) and get off at Universal Station (next one after Highland station). At Universal you exit and walk across the street to Universal, then a shuttle picks you up (free) and goes up the hill to the park.

If you also want to see Hollywood walk of Fame, get off at highland Station for awhile. With the $3 day pass you can then get back on the metro subway anytime.

For 6 people you're looking at $54 round trip total, and you could probably rent a van for the day near LAX for about $70. Traffic isn't too bad on Saturdays.

Thanks! Good to know this information for the next time my husband and I go LA. My son-in-law rented a minivan for all of us (we'll go in halfprice) for our stay. Maybe he thinks it's a little bit of a hassle for the two children, wife, and us. I think it would be fine. Oh, well. Happy President's Day weekend to you.
