Cab or metro - DCA to Alexandria

Arriving DCA and staying at Old Town Hilton in Alexandria. Cab or metro? Will have some luggage. How much for cab? Will arriving at 4 PM on a Friday be a factor? I know the metro stop is just across from Hilton on King St. Thanks.

King St. is 2 metro stops from DCA. Can't imagine taxi being any faster.

If you can walk/tow your luggage I'd take the metro. If you need help with baggage then take a taxi.

Go for Metro, it should be faster considering rush-hour traffic.

Either the blue or yellow lines will get you to King St.

Rough guess on cab fare would be $15 - $20. If you don't have a ton of luggage, Metro will be faster and cheaper.

Thanks for your replies. Husband is having trouble with plantar fasciitis. Is it a long walk from airport to metro stops at DCA?

If I remember correctly it's not really very far at all. Indoor all the way.

If you have to claim baggage then you may be best just to walk outside to taxi queue.

I've always just used carryon at DCA and walked straight to the metro.

The Metro is attached to the airport, which is small to begin with. There is probably not airport in the U.S. which has better, convenient access to mass transit than DCA.

Great. We won't be claiming baggage - just a quick weekend trip for a wedding.
Thanks.
