BYO in NYC?
We will be in NYC on DEC 30th and were wondering if there are any good BYO's in the city? We are staying in Times Square but anywhere in Manhattan is ok.
Thank you |
Do you mean BYOB--"bring your own bottle" to a restaurant? Just want to make sure before answering.
|
Yes, that is what I mean. We would like to take our own wine.
|
I think you can take your own wine to any restaurant. They all charge corkage fees, ranging from $10-20 a bottle. Just call and ask what the fee is at the restaurant you are interested in. So, the only reason to bring your own wine is to enjoy a special or unusual bottle.
Or, if you mean dives that don't have a liquor license, you'll have to wait for others to answer. |
AOC Bedford downtown has BYOB Sunday and Mondays with no corkage fee. Montrachet in Tribeca, upscale French, has BYOB Monday nights. You need to reserve in advance for both of these, as they are both very popular. Liz is correct; most places will allow this but charge a fee for corkage. You should call in advance to check with the restaurant that you choose. If you are bringing a very expensive bottle, it will be worth paying the fee; if not, it may not be worth it.

Do a google search on BYOB New York City. There seems to a lot of places in town. The results even have reviews. Lots of Thai places. ((b))
