BWI Long-Term Parking
Help! I'm leaving on an extended trip and don't want to pay $7 per day for parking in the long-term green or blue lots. Does anyone know of cheaper parking around BWI?

How long is your trip -- we find it's easier to leave our cars parked at home and use a shuttle to the airport and home again, or have our daughter or my husband's brother pick us up. You may spend less on the shuttle than on really long term parking, plus you car is safe at home.

Well, I live 11/2 hours away from BWI. I live in Delaware and usually fly out of Philly. There are many places around that airport that offer 5 or 6 bucks a day parking. Just wondinging is BWI has something similar. I did save $300 by flying out of BWI so I probably shouldn't complain...Thanks for your answer.
Paul

Aren't there any people from Baltimore that can help me out here? Or do you all park right at the airport? Thanks.

We frequently fly out of BWI and have found that it is really worth a hotel stay for one night to use their "up to two week park and fly" programs. Amerisuites and Hampton Inns both have great programs and will transport you to and from the airport. The hotel bill is less than paying for the parking fees - plus, as when we left during the snowstorm last month, the stress was taken out of the airline cancellations. Of course, we live over two hours drive from BWI, early AM flights are difficult to make for us - have to leave home around 3:00AM, so hotel is better option.

Me again -- The only private parking lots I'm familiar with around the airport charge MORE than the blue/green lot $7/day, but the BWI Amtrak station lot (which is mostly a new indoor structure) only charges $6/day. There are frequent free shuttles from there to the airport terminal, and in fact, it is promoted as an alternate when all the airport lots are full.

$7 is a bargain for long term parking at a major airport. Of course, it should be given the incredible hassle one has to undergo to park in long term parking at BWI now that they've changed everything around. You are not going to find anything significantly cheaper. If your "extended" trip makes it impossible to pay for daily parking, I suggest you take the train out to BWI. If you have to park your car somewhere in the area, arrange a monthly rate with a garage somewhere in the city of Baltimore and take the train from there.

Paul -

I fly out of BWI a lot and don't know of anything less expensive near the airport. All of the nearby lots charge more and actually seem to be filled quite often. The blue and green lots are probably your best option. Make sure to give yourself extra time as the shuttles in those lots seem to be slow.

Suzanne
