BW Avalon in NOLA
Hi folks -
Expedia is offering an awesome rate for this business center hotel in mid-March. Has anyone stayed, heard, or otherwise have a comment about this property? Thanks! Nancy

I had to look this one up on the web and all I can say is that they a bit more enthuiastic than I could be about the hotel's great location! It's on Interstate 10 near Crowder Blvd in east New Orleans. Not a great neighborhood and a LONG way from downtown. I am unsure what you mean by "business center" but it's not downtown. Expedia may have a map screwup or something!?

I-10 and Read Blvd. is not terribly convenient despite the advertised French Quarter shuttle. You would not want to walk around the hotel after dark, either. The Avalon's sister hotels are Place D'Armes and two other small FQ inns, all of which are nice. I'd suggest one of those if at all possible!
I think the Avalon was a retirement home prior to renovation. Other than capturing some of the Six Flags (Jazzland) business during the summer, I'm not sure why people would stay there except for a low rate (which they seem to have!).

Went to the casino in Mississippi last night with friends and stopped by the Avalon to check it out. Nice lobby and friendly employees from what I could tell. Location is still no good though. Interstate 10 and Read Avenue (correction from my above post) is across from a nearly-dead shopping mail (the Plaza) and the hotel is surrounded by car dealerships, fried chicken joints, gas stations etc. Not the New Orleans atmopshere I hope you get, FloridaNative!
