Buy Rent tickets now?
My 15 year old daughter wants to see Rent during our first week of July trip. We already have tickets to Wicked. I was wondering if I should purchase tickets now or wait until we arrive? Does this show sell out? It would save us the $7.50 surcharge (unless there is always a charge such as this). I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

You can wait until you get here. Bring a copy of the discount offer with you and go to the box office as soon as you get here. You should have no problem getting the tickets.

Hmmm. All the current discount codes expire at the end of June. Presumably there will be new ones but it's possible there won't be. If you can print off the discount from broadwaybox.com or playbill or theatermania etc. and take it to the theater box office when you arrive, you should be able to get tix. You also may find tix at the TKTS booth.

Since Rent has been on discount for years, I doubt very much that there won't be a new offer when the current ones expire. Check later this month or early June.
Sure, you also can probably get tickets at TKTS for less money, but if it was me, I'd avoid spending (wasting?) time waiting in line to save a few dollars and would rather go to the box office with a discount offer when I arrive and save the time and have peace of mind that I definitely had tickets! |
Wait to buy tickets; Rent may be closed by the time you get to NYC. According to my source, it is only selling about 50% of available seats: www.broadwayworld.com

Got a notice from Playbill that Adam Pascal and, I think, Anthony Rapp will be starring in Rent at the end of July for anyone who is interested.

I got the same Playbill email.
For shows from July 30 to Sept 9 (excluding Saturdays), up to 40% off. Must buy tix before July 22. Can order via Ticketmaster, by phoning the box office or taking the offer to the box office. Code is Gray07 - because in addition to the original cast members returning to the show, American Idol's Tamrya Gray is Mimi. Now, if Idina were back on stage, I'd be there in a NY minute! |
