Buttonwood Cottages - Sanibel Island

Just returned from a great trip to Sanibel - our first. Buttonwood Cottages was a great place to stay. Not too expensive and a block from the ocean or bay. Very clean accomadations and nicely decorated. We stayed at Buttonwood II which is a triplex. The two end units were the best - we were in the middle. They have bikes, beach chairs and other beach equipment. Local recommended Lazy Flamingo to eat - you need to like fried food and lots of noise. Otherwise, forget it. Timbers had the best shrimp cocktail by far. Nice breakfast at Lighthouse cafe.

Was it crowded when you were there? I have seen this place on the web. Did you have a reservation? We will be in Ft. Lauderdale but we were also thinking of going here during the first week of June. Do you think I would need reservations first? What are your thoughts on the subject?

There were no vacancies during our stay and the cleaning lady told us they were full when we were leaving. We had a reservation and I would suggest getting one. However, June is considered the off-season so I guess you could take your chances on no reservation.

Paul, thanks. From what I have read it seems as though this Sanibel Island is quite a popular place. I don't think I have heard any negative thoughts on this place. We must visit while we are in Florida.
